Landslide Trail Extraction Using Fire Extinguishing Model

Landslide trails are important elements of landslide inventory maps, providing valuable information for risk and hazard assessment. Compared with traditional manual mapping, skeletonization methods offer a more cost-efficient way to map trails, by automatically generating centerlines from polygons. However, challenge existing is that expert knowledge intervention required obtain branchless skeleton, which limits the applicability these methods. To address this problem, new workflow trail extraction (LTE) proposed in study. avoid redundant branches improve degree automation, two endpoints, i.e., crown point toe point, were determined first, reference digital elevation model. Thus, fire extinguishing model (FEM) generate skeletons without branches. Finally, effectiveness method verified, extracting polygons various shapes sizes, study areas. Experimental results show that, compared grassfire model-based method, FEM capable obtaining spurious More importantly, baseline our previous work, LTE can problems including incompleteness, low centrality, direction errors. This requires no parameter tuning yields excellent performance, thus highly practical mapping.
